We started off today with some "reading". At this point they are looking at picture books, pretending to read chapter books and digging into some nonfiction books. Which is GREAT!! Even if they are not reading, it's a good thing if they have a book in their hand and are mimicking what reading is! They'll get there eventually!
We checked up on Katherine. She pinged in twice yesterday. And we did our Image of the Week. They chose to ask an "I Wonder" question, give an "I Observe" or an "I like" about our photo. They were very curious and had some great questions and observations!!!
I did a fun "morning math" where they had M&M's and Skittles and we did some counting, sorting and an addition/subtraction sentence using our colors. They had a blast, although sugar in the morning was probably not one of my best and brightest ideas! ha ha!
In math, we are working on routine so we completed calendar (which they are getting the hang of so it doesn't take quite so long!) and then moved onto our colored work mats; making 8. They had time to play games (Roll & Tally and Speed). I have only introduced those two but will introduce "CAPS" next week (which is an easy game you can make at home-I'll send that out next week)! Then with all the internet forms signed, we can also add computers to our games rotation!
They were really into dinosaurs today, so we spent some time looking at the different times different dinosaurs lived. They learned about herbivores, omnivores and carnivores. Quiz them and see if they remember!!
