After a short week of review and library time to look at various subjects they were interested in, each student has chosen what they would like to do for their research project. They will spend next week, researching that subject, taking notes, looking up facts in both books and computers (Pebble Go, National Geographic Kids). They have books checked out from the school library and I have also checked out books for them from the public library! If you child chose a particularly tricky subject, I shot you an email to ask for some help :) They will take notes, then in turn use these notes to write a rough draft, and then a final draft. They may also make some sort of presentation via the iPad or computer (keynote) to share a digital version of their research project. This is going to take a few weeks. I'm going to be pretty strict on conventions and writing (in the written form) and use the digital form as more of a communication grade, rather than getting picky about all the tricks/trades of the computer. This will be a great learning experience to show their learning in different ways, research independently and communicate their new knowledge to their peers. I am looking forward to this project as are they!
