This week we are working on Solids, Liquids and Gases. Some important vocabulary: Matter-it's everything around us that has mass. Properties-different ways to describe matter (hard, soft, wet, slimy, smelly) Solid: matter that has it's own shape and doesn't change unless we change it. Liquid: matter that has no shape and takes the shape of another object. Gas: matter that has no shape and takes the shape of another shape. After watching a Brain Pop Jr., reading, discussing, charting this week we learned all that! One our first day we went outside and got some snow, ice and make some predictions about what we thought would happen to get us thinking. We also spent a day describing various solids, liquids and gases (great way to learn about adjectives!). Next week we are going to spend time on how matter changes! We are going to: cook it, break it, set fire to (well me :), freeze it, melt it, rip it, cut it! It should be a fun week of experiments and observations!
