We have been using the words "peacemaker" and "peacebreaker" to help us understand appropriate team/classroom behavior in our room. We read some fun books: No David Goes to School and Mustache Baby to help us brainstorm both types of people. We are going to focus on peacemakers in here. Looking for people who are kind, help others in times of need (even if they "didn't do it"), listen, follow directions etc.
We brainstormed some peacemaker characteristics: -uses kind words -helps pick up crayons/colored pencils someone dropped -if you see someone sad/needs help you help them. -raises their hand -listens to others, including the teacher (;) had to sneak that one in there!) -respectful We also chant these rules everyday with the help of our line leader to help us remember our rules: 1. Listen when the teacher is talking. 2. Raise your hand to speak. 3. Follow directions quickly. 4. Keep your hands and feet to yourself. 5. Respect yourself, respect others and respect your school. This might be some fun language and information to start some home discussions too! Some reinforcement to here and/or some behaviors to reinforce at home! :)
