Although they'll only probably remember the "getting donuts at the end", the activity was a great way to talk about being prepared learner, learning how to collaborate with others and communicating our ideas with confidence.
We talked about how bakers, cooks all have to be prepared to make our goods. That if they are missing an ingredient they won't be able to make the best version of their good (yes, they can problem solve :) but that's for a later lesson)! If they are prepared, they can get their work done and it'll be their best. We also talked about how working together, sometimes we will accomplish so much more!
They did the activity first by themselves to see how much they could make. Then I had them placed in teams and we compared our results! SOOO much better when we work together and communicate our ideas with confidence (not yell or shout)!
