During reading workshop this week, we are going to do some review with high frequency words. The students were assessed and I am so proud of their growth so far this year! We will play some high frequency word games to make it more fun! Also, we will talk about why it's important to be able to read and write your high frequency words; talking about why we do our ring of words and how that helps us! During the week we will be compiling a poster (we will add new words daily) of high frequency words they know! We will then hang that up on the back wall for reference throughout the year for both reading and writing! On Monday, I will put a copy of their new assessment of reading high frequency words in their folders. I will put the % from fall and the current %! Get excited! Lots of growth going on in here! Thanks for all your help and support with this! I couldn't do it without you! Made me smile to see the results! Hopefully you will too! Books we will read: (nonfiction) Weather: National Geographic for Kids (nonfiction) Dinosaurs: National Geographic for Kids (nonfiction) Polar Animals Listen to My Trumpet by Mo Willems Can I Play too? by Mo Willems P.S. Mo Willem's Piggie and Gerald series are FABULOUS for practicing and learning high frequency words!
