Yesterday we had the pleasure of listening and learning about polar bears through a SCE parent who works for the zoo! She works with the polar bears and the penguins. I added some pictures from the presentation! They got to see and touch polar bear fur, a claw, a foot print (which was HUGE) and skull. They were pretty excited at the end of it to visit the zoo! And they learned a lot!

This lesson/topic, we are learning greater than, less than and equal to. We are also exploring ordinal numbers. Today we did a lesson that involved showing and saying greater than and less than by actively participating! When we talked about ordinal numbers (or putting numbers in order from greatest to least -least to greatest), I had them put themselves in order by their book bin #'s. The only rule was they couldn't. Off topic-but they had some pretty cool problems solving skIlls (top left picture). They used book bins, hands, dry erase boards, gestures and moving. I was impressed! They put also actively put numbers in order from greatest to least and least to greatest.
Math missions were successfully completed today too! You may see some certificates go home with some of your kiddos! They worked on showing ways to make a number (today was 47), repeated addition and adding multiple addends together. |
